Today is Don't Panic's birthday. He turns 30 this year! Back at Cajon Pass, I had bought a two pack of Hostess Cupcakes and a small box of Good 'n' Plenty. He liked them, I'm sure.
Yesterday, on our way down from Baden-Powell, Don't Panic had found a Whisperlight Stove and some fuel. We were coming off the mountain to Highway 2, when we ran into a hiker. I was chatting with him about all the snow, when he mentioned he was up there the other day and had to leave quickly because of the weather. He left his stove behind and was hoping to find it up there. We told him we had it and he was just stunned. Trail magic at its best.
The rest of the day wasn't too bad. We got to a lower elevation and it was warming up. It felt so good! We got to Buckhorn Campground, had lunch, pushed on and guess who we ran into? Sparky! I haven't seen him since two days before we left Big Bear. We hiked with him for the rest of the day. We came across Highway 2 one last time, and there was more trail magic. There was a cooler with beer and soda! I grabbed a Mountain Maze (Albertson's brand) and it was tasty! Never thought I'd say that about a Mountain Dew knockoff.
We camped at Sulpher Springs Campground. It got cold quick, so we ate dinner fast and I jumped into my sleeping bag. Ah, sweet down! So nice after a 22 mile day. 48 more miles until Aqua Dulce!

Go Katie! Cheetos is my fav too but now you make Mountain Dew sounds heavenly. I had it before but never really liked it but I should drive out to the grocery store and try some.
Good to hear that you dont complain our your tooth anymore. Must mean that it's treating you well now. Maybe the soaking it in a pool of caffeine (Mountain Dew) helped.... hehe
