I only had about four miles to get to the Paradise Cafe. I don't think I've ever hiked that fast before! Breakfast was just what I wanted. Though, after reading the hiker register, I realized that if I had pushed myself to get to the cafe the night before, I would have met up with Boondock and Smooth. I was so bummed out after reading their note.
The trail was still closed this morning, so, not wanting to totally skip a section of the trail, I decided to road walk to Idyllwild. Holy hells bells! That was not only the most uncomfortable hiking on my feet, but one of the most scariest walking experiences ever! Cali drivers don't care if you're walking on the road. I tried hitching, but no one would pick me up (obviously because I'm so intimidating...). Finally someone did pick me up and took me to the Idyllwild Junction. Only five miles to town! I start walking, then quickly realized that this was the scariest part. Five miles of blind, winding road and no shoulder. I stopped as soon as I could and tried hitching again. I got a ride to the town, which is quite quaint. It reminds me a lot of Leavenworth, WA.
Got into town, found my friends, and wished them well. I was too emotionally shocked to keep going. I got a room at the Taquitz Inn, and cleaned myself up. My knee was pretty gross, but once I got it cleaned it wasn't so bad. Just a bit sore.
Now to sleep in a bed again....
