Zero Day 19 - Saying Goodbye

I'm pumped to start hiking again. I've been "resting" for the past week and a half, and I am set to get going. Kennedy Meadows, here I come!

Since this will be the last night at Casa de Luna in '08, we are living it up. Beer and white russians for all! The festivities got a little rowdy (when isn't it around here?), and Terrie presented me with an item that I must carry all the way to Canada. It's a prop cucumber that Joe got from the set of NCSI. It's this thing made out of foam and then painted with latex to look like a real cucumber.

At first I'm thinking, "What the hell is this?" And it must have shown on my face, because then Terrie said, "It's so you don't get lonely on the trail. Don't worry, I bleached it."

. . .

Oh... Dear... God... I really should have expected something like this to happen. We all laughed for a half hour after that exchange. So now I have this fake cucumber that I hope other hikers will think is a real one, I hope they don't ask about it and I hope they just think that I like to eat fresh cucumber on the trail. Actually, I really don't care what other people think. I'll carry this thing all the way to Canada, just for Terrie.

Terrie and Joe - Thank you for being so wonderfully weird. You certainly know how to make a girl blush and laugh her ass off at the same time.

Whelp, it's been four days, and no word, so I'm guessing you meant it this time!

I'll see you in Seattle.
