I got on the trail by 6:00am and just walked. I was pretty much all alone all day. I ran into Nanuq early, but then no one for hours. I stopped for a siesta around 11:30 at Pioneer Mail Picnic Area. There, I met a woman named Wheeew. She's been hiking on a broken ankle (say it with me folks, ouch!) She left before I did, so I was pretty much on my own again. We planned on camping at the same place, so I just kept walking. I finally caught up to her around 4:00, so we hiked together until we ran into a group that was five miles ahead of when I started this morning. I'm glad I found these folks. I wasn't looking forward to sleeping alone out here.
