We were tired and running out of food. We decided to skip Brooks Lake, and instead take the pack trail to Togwotee Mt. Lodge. We started out, climbing to the top of the plateau, had great views of the Tetons, then headed down to the Parting of the Waters. This is where the Two Ocean Creek physically splits in two and goes to either the Pacific or Gulf of Mexico. We saw a forest service crew working on the trail and we thanked them. We also ran into JoJo Smiley and Rascal, NoBos. We hopped onto the aptly named "Giddy Up Highway" and cruised. We passed Snapshot and Amish Gypsy, section hikers, and also Wasah. The whole day was cruisy, but it felt like hard work. A pack train passed us, and one of the trail crew walked up as well. We talked and walked with him and he went fast! We walked with him all the way to Th??? Meadow junction. We said goodbye, took a longish break, then headed to the North Buffalo Fork. We slogged up the hill, crossed the bridge, made dinner, then went back across the bridge to make camp. I cleaned up a bit in the river, since the trail was very dusty!
It rained last night and we didn't sleep too well. We packed as it started to sprinkle, and quickly made our way across both forks of the Buffalo River. We didn't have this trail on our maps, but we had the GPS and the pack trail to follow. We made it to the lodge, drank a cup of coffee, and waited 20 minutes for a hitch. Nate and Becca were in the area rock climbing and dropped us off in Dubois, WY. We got coffee and donuts at Daylight Donuts, searched around for a room before ending up at Trails End Motel. Had lunch at the Cowboy Cafe, picked up our packages at the PO, then headed to the room to clean up. Ate dinner at the Daylight Cafe, resupplied then relaxed watching movies on TV.
ZERO DAY! Had breakfast at the cafe again, then did pretty much nothing the rest of the day. Went to the internet cafe to update the blog, but spent the rest of the day watching TV. The Crew showed up just after severe storms rolled through. We had dinner with them at the cafe, then we retired for the evening.
